World News: Tracker wins Telematics Update award

Tracker Response was named the Best Aftermarket Device during last week’s International Telematics Awards in Detroit.

Tracker’s stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) system, which enables users to keep track of their vehicles via the Internet from anywhere in the world, beat competition from computer software giant Microsoft and telecommunications specialists Motorola to take the top accolade.

While the technology is best known for enabling the police to pin-point a stolen vehicle, it can also be used to notify the owner if his car is moving without the engine being switched on.

In addition, if other drivers have access to the vehicle, alerts can be set by the owner including a speed notification warning which immediately informs them when a pre-determined speed has been surpassed.

“Winning the International Telematics Awards Best Aftermarket Device award is a terrific honour,” said Parita Patel, marketing manager for TRACKER. “The VHF and GPS technology we’ve developed means Tracker is by far the leader in its field, and clearly this has been recognised by authorities at the highest level.”

The prestigious International Telematics Awards are organised by industry trade publication, Telematics Update. All entries were judged by a selection of independent consultants and industry experts.
