VW Launches Geolocation Shopping Pitch

Volkswagen has launched a vehicle finding app that will pitch shopping suggestions to its consumers.

The ‘We Experience’ bolt-on has been added to its ‘Volkswagen We’ digital ecosystem in Germany. The new feature employs IBM’s CRM software to offer personalized recommendations and special offers for products and services available in the vicinity of the vehicle. Partners in the system already include as Shell, Domino’s and Tank & Rast service station outlets.

IBM’s software is expected to allow highly individual offers for the consumers who can then redeem them online or on site. VW says the new service will be constantly expanded to include further recommendations and trading partners.

The carmaker’s existing ‘VW Connect’ app is already used by more than 560,000 customers in 17 countries and can connect via a dongle to most of its vehicle range built post 2008.
