VW Guarantee on ID.3 Battery Pack

Volkswagen will offer an eight-year, 99,500-mile battery pack warranty for its forthcoming ID.31 albeit for just 70% of its capacity.

Some, who are less than zealots over BEV technology, would point out that this is akin to only guaranteeing an ICE vehicle will operate on three of its four cylinders within the usual 100,000-mile warranty period. Also, VW has yet to forecast any costs of replacing a spent pack or even if this were to be economically viable.

However, its compact-class model, the first of planned ID. Family, claims a range of up to 340 miles, when new, using the largest battery pack option able to accommodate a charging capacity of up to 125 kW able to achieve 50% charge in half and hour on a fast-charger.
