Toyota Boosts Connected Car Strategy With Airbiquity Investment

Japanese car giant Toyota is boosting its connected car proposition leading a $15M investment in auto connectivity specialist Airbiquity.
The carmaker joined the DENSO Corporation and Toyota Tsusho Corporation in the cash boost to support Airbiquity’s expansion of the development of connected vehicle software technology and cloud-based services.
In addition, the four companies agreed collaboration over the development and commercialization of automotive over-the-air (OTA) systems. The move hopes to allow remote vehicle software updates and management, increased production and operational efficiencies throughout vehicle lifecycles and new mobility services powered by data and analytics.
Kamyar Moinzadeh, Airbiquity president and CEO, said: “We are delighted to receive investment from three of the most successful corporations in the automotive industry. This is an exciting time for our company, and we look forward to working with our new strategic partners.”
