Renault Unveils Latest India-Only Crossover

Renault has unveiled its latest compact SUV solely for the burgeoning domestic market of India.

Its Triber appears to be a larger B-segment seven-seat version of the French carmaker’s smallest India-only SUV, the Kwid and sibling Captur and probably employs the group’s CMF/C-D platform shared with the Renault Kadjar. Renault openly admits it is hoping for sales expansion in the Indian Continent by providing value-for-money products.

As part of its ‘Drive the Future’ strategic plan, Renault aims to increase sales by more than 40%, with a target of more than 5M vehicles by 2022 and aims to double the sales volume to 200,000 units annually over the next three years in India. Renault Triber introduces to India the 1.0-liter Energy three-cylinder gasoline engine which will now be manufactured at the Chennai plant.
