Google makes local web search available on iPhone via Safari

On accessing www.google.com from Safari on iPhone 3.0, users can choose to turn on My Location by tapping on the link on the homepage, which will update their location and display it on the homepage.

From then on, a local search will return results relevant to the user's current location.

If the user moves to a new location, tapping on the update link will refresh his location.

Google will not use a user's location in a search unless he has explicitly opted in, and user can disable the feature at any time.

Search with My Location from Safari is available in English in the US and UK.
