China First to Get Volkswagen’s BEV Limo
Volkswagen has released its first official renderings of the latest addition to its ID. family, a battery electric limousine to launch initially in the Chinese market.
The ID. Aero concept promises space and elegance and its digital world premiere of the pre-production study will take place on Monday, 27 June. VW’s future production version is based on its Modular Electric Drive Matrix (MEB) platform. Stylistically, it also follows the design language of the ID. family. Striking features of the pre-production study are the aerodynamic front and roof, which help to reduce energy consumption and increase range.
The production version is expected to go on sale in China second half of 2023. The corresponding production model for the North American and European market will be presented in 2023. Production of the series version of the ID. Aero for the European and North American automobile market will then start at the Volkswagen plant in Emden.
