Asia News: MapKing launches first real-time traffic solution in Singapore

MapKing has launched a beta version of its real-time traffic and GPS navigation system, which runs on Windows Mobile 5/6 Pocket PC phone devices equipped with 3G or GPRS wireless connection.

Streamed from the intelligent transport system of Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA), MapKing’s real-time traffic server dispatches traffic speed data to each device connected wirelessly on the road.

At present, the data is updated every five minutes, and the first generation covers highways and major roads..

MapKing plans to expand the real-time traffic service to other Asian countries in the coming years.

The public launch of “MapKing – Real Time Traffic GPS Navigation Singapore” is anticipated in the next quarter.

Headquartered in Hong Kong, the MapKing group of companies covers China, Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore. MapKing (Singapore) was established in January 2007.
