Aiways BEV Sports Crossover Revealed

Chinese carmaker Aiways has unveiled its sports crossover BEV online following the cancellation of the 2020 Geneva Motor Show following government fears over corona virus.
The Shanghai company lifted the covers on its U6ion electric crossover coupe concept highlighting range-extending aerodynamics it claims is class leading. It also said the production ready version will be targeting the European market in the wheel tracks of its current product, the U5 which will be in showrooms from August this year.
The automaker says its MAS (more adaptable structure) platform allows the U6ion to benefit from relatively low weight combined with a lightweight motor, battery pack and interior to further improve vehicle range. Aerodynamic performance was a key focus of the car’s design team using shark fins and lipped edges to ensure a clean separation of airflow to reduce drag.
Other airflow details include a two-tone curved spoiler and 21-inch low-drag sports wheels. Combined, the features give the U6ion a drag coefficient of a claimed 0.27. In a nod to the automaker’s ambitions as a “mobility solution provider” the trunk is fitted with a hidden compartment specifically for the quick and easy deployment of an electric scooter as a modern short-distance commuting solution.
On board technology includes an integrated AI voice assistant to operate driver aids which includes ADAS systems such as automatic emergency brake, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control (ACC), intelligent high beam control, lane keeping, driver fatigue detection among others.
