World News: Toyota develops system to immobilise drunk drivers

According to a recent Associated Press report, Toyota Motor Corp is developing a foolproof system that automatically shuts the vehicle down if sensors detect that the driver is drunk.

The system features sweat sensors in the steering wheel that identify high levels of alcohol in the driver's bloodstream, sensors that pick up on abnormal steering, and a camera that detects if driver's pupils are not in focus.

Toyota expects to fit cars with the system by the end of 2009.
