World News: TomTom unveils nav device with built-in SIM card

TomTom has introduced the new TomTom GO 715 – the world’s first portable navigation device with an integrated GPRS modem and SIM card.

From April 2007, the TomTom GO 715 will be available with TomTom WEBFLEET as part of the new TomTom WORK COMPACT solution for commercial vehicle owners.

The new TomTom GO 715 features TomTom’s software, precise door-to-door navigation across Western Europe and a built-in GPRS modem and SIM card for out-of-the box connected navigation services, including best routes, 3D map view and spoken instructions. The TomTom GO 715 also has hands-free functionality via Bluetooth-enabled phones

Users can send messages and location information between vehicles on the road and the TomTom WEBFLEET application more easily than ever before, and drivers have continuous and ultra-fast access to TomTom’s most up-to-date traffic information.

TomTom WORK offers integrated navigation, tracking, tracing and two-way data communication for owners of fleets of all sizes. The TomTom WEBFLEET application comes preloaded with easy reporting software ready for immediate use.

In other news, just one year after its launch in March 2006, TomTom HOME has achieved one million users – the world’s largest sat nav community.

A million users across the world have accessed and registered for TomTom HOME, TomTom’s free software that enables users to future-proof and personalise their devices. Via easy desktop access, TomTom customers can update maps, receive free traffic alerts, or download the latest application, celebrity voices and more.
