World News: It’s the telematics industry’s time to shine on Telematics Update magazine’s globally recognised stage

Nominations are now open for the 2008 International Telematics Update Awards, with this year’s categories specifically designed to showcase the dynamic evolution and reward innovations in the industry during the past year.

“Does your company deserve special recognition for innovation? Do you want to make sure that your new developments and improved services are internationally celebrated rather than slipping off the industry radar?” asks Asif Naqvi, co-editor of Telematics Update magazine.

“The Telematics Update Awards are attracting more attention these days, and they have become a benchmark for best-in-class companies and solutions,” said Phil Magney, principal analyst at Telematics Research Group and one of the judges for the 2008 event.

Nominate now and gain an unrivalled opportunity to attain recognition for hard work:

Following the success of the 2007 event – where large global companies competed with relatively unknown start-ups on an even footing, the widely anticipated 2008 Awards are expected to be bigger than ever before.

OnStar shone in 2007, walking away with four awards – including the hotly contended ‘People’s Choice Award for Best Telematics Company’, and Hughes Telematics celebrated winning the much-coveted ‘Newcomer of the Year’ Award.

The judges are already gearing up for the challenge they face, sifting through the exceptional nominations:

“As the Telematics Update Awards have grown through the years, I've been amazed at both the number and the quality of the nominations,” said Bernie Wagenblast, editor of Transport Communications Newsletter. “It's always been a difficult process – identifying one winner out of many excellent candidates, and I expect it will be even more challenging this year.”

Telematics Update magazine is pleased to announce this year’s judging panel of renowned industry leaders:

  • Scott Andrews, managing director, Cogenia Partners
  • Mike Brennan, founder,
  • Diana Hwang, research manager, IDC
  • Thilo Koslowski, lead analyst & director – automotive research, Gartner
  • Phil Magney, principal analyst, Telematics Research Group
  • David McClure, technical director, SBD
  • Dave McNamara, manager for advanced infotainment, Ford Motor Co Research & Innovation Centre (retired Feb ’06)
  • Lisa Peterson, managing partner, LBS Consulting
  • Bernie Wagenblast, editor, Transport Communications Newsletter

“The categories have been designed to ensure that all players from all corners of the telematics industry have the opportunity to nominate themselves,” said Telematics Update Awards director, Precksha Saksena. “We will guarantee a neutral and fair judging process – which is at the core of the Awards’ longevity and credibility.”

Don’t miss this opportunity to be appreciated and applauded by the industry.

Nominations must be submitted by March 31, 2008 and finalists will be announced on April 23, 2008. The Telematics Update Awards 2008 will be the official launch of the Telematics Detroit conference, and will take place during a gala dinner at the Hotel Baronette, Novi on the evening of May 20, 2008.
