Volvo to Market its First Ever MPV

For the first time in its 96-year history, Volvo will be entering the ‘people carrier’ market with a new all-electric MPV.

True, some would argue the old spacious Amazon Station Wagon of the 1960s probably qualified for that era a mover of multiple persons but nothing like the van-like MPV that most mass-producing automakers have released in the past few couple of decades. Now, however, the Swedish champion says that coming soon there will be the Volvo EM90 premium (as indeed most BEVs have to call themselves to justify the price tag) MPV.

Aimed at consumers looking for a flexible mobile space. While releasing a teaser image, Volvo says the vehicle will allow “you can connect with your loved ones, create, relax, work or just think”.

A Scandinavian living room on the move: “The new EM90 doesn’t just allow you to travel from A to B – it creates room for your life.” Well tell that to commuters on the M25 round London or Interstate 5 in Los Angeles watching their lives dribble away in traffic jams!

The Volvo EM90 will make its global debut on 12 November 2023. Pre-order will start for customers in China on the same date.
