Volkswagen Mobility JV Teams Up with Parkopedia for In-Car Services

Volkswagen’s mobility joint venture has teamed up with parking and payment specialist, Parkopedia, to boost its in-cabin digital services offering.

Valtech Mobility has agreed a collaboration with Parkopedia to support drivers in finding and paying for some of the most commonly requested vehicle services such as parking, charging, fueling and road tolls. Together, the companies hope to offer automakers a service that covers the in-car transaction process, from individual point of interest data to user registration and payment processing.

This means that vehicles fitted with Valtech Mobility’s software will be able to access Parkopedia’s integrated Payment Platform that makes it possible to pay for services from within the vehicle and without using a smartphone. The standard format enables the services to be accessed within Google Automotive Services (GAS) with other environments to be added in the near future.

Markus Dohl, Parkopedia’s vice-president of sales and business development Europe, said: “This partnership with Valtech Mobility enables us to provide an integrated end-to-end parking, charging and payment solution to an even greater audience.” Norman Palmhof, business director Valtech Mobility, added: “Already during the first workshop we could see that our teams and portfolios complement each other very well.”
