Video: The things that scare OEMs

In this video from Telematics Detroit 2013, Timothy Evavold, director of connected car and dealer ecosystems, Covisint, highlights the many fears OEMs have when it comes to putting together a compelling infotainment solution. They include choices about infotainment features, how to trial and monetize them, whether to provide smartphone integration, how to address driver distraction and whether to go things alone or seek partnerships.

Covisint provides what it calls an exchange platform, a way for disparate components of a connected car ecosystem to work better and faster together. The platform, which is essentially about interoperability, makes it possible to get more content into the vehicle, allows users to manage their preferences off-line and gives OEMs the ability to have a true 360-degree view of the customer.
