Video: Renault Trucks on standard fitment of telematics and autonomous driving

In this video from Telematics Munich 2013, Pierre Sirolli, business development director for aftersales, Renault Trucks, speaks with TU's Jan Stojaspal about standard fitment of fleet telematics, portable devices and the future of autonomous driving.

According to Sirolli, Renault started providing telematics as a standard fit in 2011, and it continues to widen their availability across its entire range of commercial vehicles.

While he prefers factory-fitted telematics solutions for their robustness and depth of insight into the vehicle, he also sees room for portable devices when it comes to addressing the broad mass market and keeping up with the fast pace of change in consumer electronics. “It’s not black and white,” he says.

On the autonomous driving front, Sirolli discusses bringing more and more automation to the driving task and integrating active safety features such as lane assist and automatic braking.
