UK ‘Skateboard’ Autonomous BEV Platform Unveiled

Delta Motorsport has launched its ‘skateboard’ platform aimed at use in BEV autonomous vehicles.
The UK company, headquartered at the world-famous Silverstone race circuit, claims its platform is flexible in vehicle length, width, wheelbase and ride height thanks to the skateboard-style design. This design employs a low, flat battery that forms the structural base and compact motors on either end, with all these below the wheel height, lowering the center of gravity.
The platform allows for 48-volt mild hybrid systems, or pure electric cars with up to 1,000 volts for hypercar designs. The ‘brain’ of the platform is Delta’s platform master controller (PMC), which the company says can utilise an “almost infinite” range of drive, steering and braking system configurations.
