TU-Automotive Awards 2015 winners revealed

Naturally, competition for each category was fierce but the best-of-the-best can now be revealed as:

Car Maker of the Year: Volvo Car Group

Volvo swept rivals aside by taking the coveted Car Maker of the Year Award while drawing unanimous praise from our panel of expert judges.

Stand out comments included:

“It has impressive LTE (long term evolution) telecom connections for v2v solutions and maintains momentum as industry leader in safety with its Vision Zero approach to road safety regardless of reward or recognition.”

“It has proved autonomous viability with large scale demonstrations in Gottenburg.”

“Volvo has made exceptional efforts with young companies funding small automotive start-up working in cutting edge technologies.”

Commercial Vehicle Maker of the Year: Mack Trucks

Despite being a fairly new player in the connected vehicle industry, Mack Trucks wins the Commercial Vehicle Maker of the Year Award having impressed with its application of Telogis connected intelligence platform.

Best Telematics Service Provider: Airbiquity

Airbiquity takes the Telematics Service Provide of the Year with one judge saying:

“As an app provider there is a great deal of clarity about their message leading to OEM customer satisfaction.”

Commercial Service Provider of the Year 2015: Telogis

Its adoption by two of the biggest industry players, Ford and GM, Telogis is the clear winner in the Commercial Service Provider of the Year Award.

Best Connected System Integrator: Luxoft

Luxoft’s outstanding work with Ford sees them grab the Best Connected System Integrator Award with one judge saying:

“Luxoft stands out being willing and open to work with other technologies while still helping start-ups, which puts it on the right track for the future.”

Best Commercial Vehicle System Integrator: TomTom Telematics

Despite its sheer size TomTom Telematics takes the Best Commercial Vehicle System Integrator for it agility in an otherwise slow moving industry.

Particular praise came for its “success in fleet space” where it offered a “multifaceted solution”.

Best Insurance Telematics Product: zubie inc &  Progressive Insurance

Zubie scooped the Best Insurance Telematics Product Award for its work with Progressive Insurance that created a leadership status in the US.

Judges welcomed its alternative approach to ‘value added services’ attracting comments including:

“It’s been disruptive on the market, making a splash, and that qualifies it to top my list.”

“Zubie pushes the limit on UBI and, despite being small, has managed to make a big difference in a short period of time.”

Telematics Product or Launch in an Emerging Market: TATA Motors Ltd, India

India’s TATA Motors wins the Telematics Product or Launch in an Emerging Market award for providing technology solutions on a budget tailored for its home market.

One judge said:

“Its low key launch of tablet integration hits the market perfectly with a delightfully low cost solution.”

Best Safety or ADAS Solution: Elektrobit (EB) Automotive

A strategy that will see increased efforts working with Daimler in the coming 12 months has won the Best Safety of ADAS Solution award for Elektrobit.

One judge added:

“I expect to see a lot more coming from Elektrobit in the coming year.”

Best New Mobility Solution: moovel GmbH

A broader overview of transport has won moovel the Best Mobility Solution Industry Newcomer Award.

It attracted particular praise for “really looking at the future of transport, not viewing at cars as cars but where they sit in the future of mobility”.

Best Industry Newcomer: Dealer-FX

As voted for live by 280 top industry executives at the show is

TU-Automotive Influencer of the Year: Matt Jones, senior technical specialist – infotainment, Jaguar Land Rover

A champion of infotainment technology, Matt Jones is the stand-out winner of the TU-Automotive Influencer of the Year.

Heaping praise on Jones, judges said:

“Matt is single handedly defining JLR’s approach to connectivity.”

“He has become the face of the JRL Portland operation and stands out because of his work with Genivi.”
