Toyota Unveils Olympic EV People Mover

Toyota has released details of its fully accessible people mover vehicle that will help ferry athletes and visitors to the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020.

Dubbed an ‘Accessible People Mover’, the vehicle aims to provide all people the freedom to travel no matter what their mobility limitations or special needs. It will be offering a “last one mile” solution that helps transport as many people as possible to events and venues, including athletes, staff and visitors with accessibility needs such as the elderly, physically impaired, pregnant women, and families with small children.

A low-speed, short-distance BEV the vehicle claims a range of 62 miles. It will feature three-row seating, with the driver’s seat at the front, allowing total seating for six people, five passengers and one driver. When used for passengers in wheelchairs, the configuration can be modified by folding the seats to allow the wheelchair rider in the second row. It is also expected that 200 vehicle fleet will be used during the Games.
