Toyota Applies AI to its US Commercial Fleet Customers

Toyota has turned to an AI powered data specialist to offer commercial fleets in North America real-time insights aimed at making connected operations safer and cost-effective.

CerebrumX Labs has announced its partnership with Toyota Motor North America focused on reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO) for fleets by using embedded telematics data from participating Toyota vehicles to promote data-driven decision-making and upgraded performance. The specialist’s Augmented Deep Learning Platform (ADLP) claims to collects and analyze embedded data directly from participating Toyota-connected vehicles to offer its fleet managers visibility into real-time streaming telematics, vehicle health data, collisions, service warnings, driver behavior and performance. The platform also integrates data with contextual information, such as weather, maps and traffic flow.

The data allows identification of vehicle needs, optimal scheduling of maintenance appointments, management of fuel consumption, analysis of crash data, prevention of breakdowns among other benefits. While these insights could bring down fleet costs significantly, it also directly impacts driver safety and overall productivity, enabling participating fleet managers to control real-time updates and reduce downtime to achieve lower cost of ownership.

Josh Batie, general manager of digital mobility and software first connected technologies, at Toyota Motor North America, said: “We are pleased to team up with CerebrumX to continue to deliver Toyota fleet customers high impact value. By leveraging connected vehicle data, we’re helping provide our partners with the actionable insights needed to achieve a safer and more efficient fleet.”
