TomTom finds another South African distributor; enters Turkish market

In May, TomTom's exclusive South African distributor, Core group, dropped the device manufacturer, claiming the Dutch company had failed to honour its contractual obligations.

TomTom also announced that it is bringing the latest models of its car navigation product offering – the new TomTom ONE and TomTom XL range to South Africa. The new products have been completely redesigned and include an ultra-compact folding mount – known as the EasyPortTM mount – to provide maximum portability and flexibility for in-car use.

The new TomTom ONE and TomTom XL models come with a comprehensive map of the Southern Africa region, covering South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Swaziland, Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Zambia, with maximum detail stored on the internal memory, provided by TeleAtlas/MapIT.

In other news, TomTom has opened an office in Istanbul to launch its PNDs in Turkey.

TomTom will enter the market with the TomTom ONE Turkey, TomTom XL Turkey, TomTom XL Europe and TomTom GO 720 Europe.

The products will be sold through various distributors and retailers.
