The European Commission and PSA Peugeot Citroën Join Telematics Munich 2014

The European Commission will be represented by Dr. Werner Steinhögl, Project Officer/Research Programme Officer within the Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology. During the afternoon of Day 1 (Nov 10), Dr Steinhögl will join senior executives from HERE, QNX and Jasper to discuss the effect that the growing number of connected devices will have on the connected car vertical. With 50 billion connected devices expected by 2020, the need for businesses to determine their strategies for the connected world is needed more than ever and this will be the primary focus of the panel session.

Participating in a different track during the same afternoon will be Thierry Le Hay, Manager-Advanced On Board Systems, PSA Peugeot Citroën who will be discussing the financial viability of V2X communications. Mr Le Hay, alongside representatives from Denso and telematics consultancy IHS, will debate the highly controversial topic of who will pay for the cost of building V2X infrastructure. Delegates will be able to assess if the bill can justifiably fall at the door of OEMs. This will form one of five sessions during the V2X and autonomous car track, which features speakers from BMW, Continental and Volkswagen.

Andy Pym, Project Director for Telematics Munich said, “The diversity of our speaker list shows how large the connected car ecosystem really is. The range of topics that we will discuss is wide, but the value-chain is intrinsically connected, meaning that the conference will be a hub of networking and learning – something that is completely unique within this industry”.
