Telematics Update: Continental and Fiat to reveal their thoughts on the huge revenue potential of big data at Content and Apps for Automotive Europe 2014

audience of over 250 senior leaders from the automotive, telecoms, app and tech development industries at Content and Apps for Automotive Europe 2014 next year (April 8-9, Munich, Germany).

Break down ‘Big Data’ to Create Next-Gen Apps

The marketing community is buzzing with the prospect of being able to tailor messages to different consumers through the connected car.  It has been forecast that push notifications via branded apps will soon be sent at the same time as on-air radio commercials, meaning a message will reach consumers from a number of different channels.

Marketing professionals are not the only ones excited by this prospect.  During the panel session at the Conference in April, Fiat and Continental will explain how keen OEMs and content providers are to publicise their capability to provide advertisers, government agencies and the online community with valuable data collected from in-car sensors. For them, it presents them with a valuable revenue stream after the sale of the car.  It is forecast that 80% of cars sold in 2016 will be connected, which equates to approximately 210 million connected units (Oliver Wyman), meaning the potential penetration of marketers’ messages is exciting both the creative and automotive industries.

Pádraig McGarrigle, Community Brand Manager at Telematics Update added, “The benefits of harnessing the granular data in the car will be felt across the automotive, content/tech and marketing communities.  It will allow OEMs to know their drivers better, thus aiding their R&D manufacturing processes, whilst also offering them the option of monetizing the data that they collect, which is of huge value to marketers”.

This exciting issue will be discussed in more depth at Content and Apps for Automotive Europe 2014, the continent’s most focused gathering for the automotive apps ecosystem. This year will see over 250 executive attendees and 30+ expert speakers come together to discuss the most pressing challenges of the IVI space, making it the must attend event for all dedicated automotive infotainment professionals.
