Telefónica chooses ALTEA’s Evolution for telematics infrastructure in Venezuela

The selection was based on the flexibility, scalability and reliability of Evolution's base – the Open Telematics Platform (OTP), which is adaptable to virtually any on-board device, works with numerous protocols and mapping systems and is accessible in different languages.
ALTEA's OTP is easily adaptable for use in a variety of key telematics projects, including safety & security services (such as anti-theft vehicle tracking and eCall), fleet management, insurance models (such as Pay-As-You-Drive), traffic management and remote diagnostics.
One of the largest telecommunications companies in the world in terms of market capitalisation, Telefónica's activities are focused primarily on the fixed and mobile telephony businesses, with broadband as the key tool for the development of both.
The company has a significant presence in 25 countries, with a strong presence in Spain, Europe and Latin America. In Venezuela, the company has been active in the stolen vehicle recovery and fleet management markets for the past few years through its subsidiary, Time Track.
A global telematics service provider with a worldwide network of proprietary multi-lingual operating centres, ALTEA develops hi-tech customised telematics solutions for vehicle and heavy equipment manufacturers, insurance companies and fleet managers.
