Sportscar Concept Offers Track Day Junkies Cockpit AR Instructor

A specialist sportscar maker is promising to install performance enhancing gamification into its BEV supercar.

Track-day addicts could get the chance to experience in-cabin augmented reality (AR) to help them achieve the best race circuit lap times. Apex’s AP-0 to make its debut at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show will feature a holographic AR display and AR ‘Race Instructor’, which hopes to gamify “the way drivers can learn new race tracks and delivers the ultimate immersive racing experience”, the company said in a statement.

The concept also boasts sophisticated ADAS technology courtesy of its LiDAR sensor technology. Its suite of sensors claim high-resolution three-dimensional imaging to spot minute details measuring as little as a few centimeters from more than 100-yards away in all weather conditions. Apex claims this will accurately identify potential hazards, pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles.

It says the AP-0 will also regularly receive over-the-air software updates that add new features and enhance existing functionality through Wi-Fi connectivity.
