Sneak Peek Pictures of Vauxhall/Opel PHEV Astra Published

Vauxhall/Opel has published first official detail pictures of its new electrified Astra most likely to be offered as a PHEV

Using its PSA parent group’s EMP2 platform, the Astra reveals the sort of focus on aerodynamic styling that has become so vital for extending the potential all-electric range of the car. The automaker says its exterior design element is a further development of the Vauxhall Vizor first seen on the All-New Mokka.

The face of the brand stretches across the front, integrating technologies such as the ultra-slim LED headlamps. At the rear, the Astra nameplate is centrally placed on the sheer, taut surface of the tailgate

We are told the interior cabin will feature a next generation digital cockpit with fully glazed surfaces with two widescreen displays delivering information in a horizontal driver-oriented format. Physical controls are reduced to the core functions in the form of keys plus a newly-designed steering wheel and ergonomic front seats.

Paul Willcox, managing director, Vauxhall, said: “The All-New Astra will open an exciting new chapter in the 41-year history of our popular compact model. We are confident that the next generation Vauxhall Astra will make a powerful impression and attract new customers to the brand, especially now Astra will be electrified for the first time.”
