Rinspeed to Debut Modular MetroSnap at CES

Rinspeed’s latest modular mobility solution in the ‘Snap’ series is the MetroSnap to be debuted at 2020 CES.

The Swiss innovator demonstrated its microSNAP at the Las Vegas show in the past two years, showcasing design that vehicles can be made to tgransform to offer differing solutions. It claims its  MetroSnap concept presents a simple, fast, safe and inexpensive swapping system for the vehicle bodies.

It suggests modular vehicles can help solve a multitude of problems such as autonomous driving and of traffic congestion and the associated inefficiency and air pollution. Rinspeed gives a hypothetical example of how the vehicle could work at customer-accessible parcel stations that are dropped off in the customer’s neighborhood for a certain period. Parcel stations on wheels, right around the corner.

With batteries are split between the “Pod”, the vehicle body, and the “Skateboard”, the chassis, the vehicle does not need to be parked for charging which can take place instead while cleaning or loading the “Pod.”

Rinspeed boss Frank M. Rinderknecht, said: “People desire ever more convenience and simplicity in their lives, and we want to make this possible with our innovative transport solutions.”
