Renault Beefs Up Zoe

Renault has boosted power and range with its second generation Zoe electric hatchback.

The new Zoe has a larger, 52 kWh battery and a more powerful, 100 kW electric motor, making 134bhp and 181ft-lbs, giving it 242 miles of range. The new battery is 30% larger than the old 40 kW version, yet it retains the same dimensions inside the car’s body.

As well as power and capacity updates, the battery also supports  direct current fast charging from a 50kW DC charger, which means the battery will get 90 miles of range within half an hour. In the cabin, there’s a new 10-inch TFT instrument cluster, showing all immediately relevant driving information including an eco-meter for environmentally friendly driving. There’s also an optional 9.3-inch touchscreen in the center console, for controlling the main functions of the car and showing useful information, like the availability of electric chargers.

ADAS as been upgraded too, adding new sensors, cameras and software to handle features including AEB, lane keep, traffic sign recognition and park assistance.
