Recent UBI Announcements Creates Surge in Ticket Sales for Insurance Telematics Canada 2014

This will be the only event this year that will bring together the nation’s largest insurance carriers (e.g. RSA Group, Desjardins and The Cooperators), broker associations, telematics service providers and the most influential regulators to determine the future of this burgeoning technology.

The latest of these announcements has come from The Cooperators who this week made public that their en-route Auto Program™ will launch in Ontario on April 2. Both The Cooperators and the technology company that developed the product, Intelligent Mechatronic Systems (IMS) will be on stage alongside other insurers such as Desjardins and their partner iMetrik, to discuss crucial business-critical UBI challenges at the Conference in May.

Speaking about their new product, Kathy Bardswick, president and CEO of The Co-operators said, “It’s an innovative program that not only allows your premiums to reflect your personal driving behaviour, but also provides you with reports you can use to become a safer driver.”

Jack Palmer, Project Director for the Insurance Telematics Canada Conference commented, “I have been closely following the Canadian UBI space and it is showing signs that it has learned from what has and hasn’t worked in the US and Europe. The products coming on to the market are sure to attract the attention of consumers who have traditionally paid very high rates of auto insurance. UBI really can reinvigorate the market – this presents a whole host of opportunities for the consumer, insurer and broker alike!”

With interest in UBI growing quickly there has been no better time to discuss how the auto-insurance ecosystem comes together with telematics service providers to produce the insurance products that consumers want. At Insurance Telematics Canada 2014 (May 28-29) other major insurers such as RSA Group, Zurich and SGI will discuss the future of the auto insurance industry with tech and consultancy experts such as Octo, CGI and IBM. For the first time, Canadian-specific trends and challenges surrounding consumer uptake, privacy concerns and broker outreach will be addressed and delegates will have the chance to meet other influential parts of the value chain in the form of C-level execs from mobile network operators, data aggregators and of course, regulators.
