Orange Poland’s marketing strategy good for a laugh

The media had a field day last month when news leaked out that people queuing up outside shops in Poland on the day of the iPhone launch were actually paid actors.

Despite an indignant response to media enquiries, claiming that the fake customers were actually members of Orange's team who joined the queues as part of the excitement surrounding the launch, Orange Poland later admitted that they were, indeed, hired actors

According to Associated Press, the idea was to set up fake queues in front oftwenty or so stores around the country to "warm up" the atmosphere around the iPhone launch.

Suggestion: If you want to use dubious marketing methods to hoodwink the public, keep it confidential.
