Mercedes-Benz EQS in Three Performance Packages

Mercedes-Benz’s new luxury BEV cross-over will come to market in three enhanced performance versions.
The ‘entry level’ EQS 450+ boasts a power output of 261bhp and maximum torque of 418ft-lbs from a single electric motor driving the rear wheels and a single charge potential range of a claimed 660 miles. Its four-wheel drive sibling, the EQS 450 4Matic claims the same power output but with torque boosted to 590ft-lbs and a claimed 613-mile potential range. The range-topping EQS 580 4Matic boasts 530bhp of power with 632ft-lbs of torque and the similar post 600-mile potential driving range.
All models feature suspension able to be raised or lowered by a couple of inches depending on tarmac or off-road use. In addition to the Dynamic Select modes Eco, Comfort, Sport and Individual, the 4Matic versions feature Offroad, a further mode for off-road driving. Furthermore, rear-axle steering with a steering angle of up to 4.5 degrees is standard. It provides extra maneuverability in the city and agility over land. Optionally, and also via an OTA update, a version with up to 10 degrees steering angle is available. Prices and market availability have yet to be announced.
