Maserati Unveils its First Electrified SUV

Maserati launched its first hybrid powered full-size SUV at the Shanghai International Auto Show 2021.
The Maserati Levante Hybrid joins the Maserati Ghibli Hybrid in the Italian automaker’s electrified powertrain offering and claims to be faster than a diesel, more sustainable than diesel or gasoline and unique in its specific characteristics. It combines the four cylinder, 2.0-liter engine with a 48-volt hybrid system to recover energy during deceleration and braking.
The car weighs less than the six cylinder ICE version, whether gasoline or diesel, and also claims an even better weight distribution, thanks to the battery, mounted in the rear without sacrificing load capacity, enhancing weight distribution.
The Hybrid claims a maximum power output of 327bhp and torque of 331ft-lbs delivered from 2,250 rpm and is only available with all-wheel drive. Performance is listed by Maserati as boasting a top speed of more than 150mph and a standing acceleration sprint time to 62mph in 6 seconds.
Maserati CEO Davide Grasso, said: “We believe strongly in this new beginning, and today we are showcasing several world premieres that project us straight into the future. The stand is dominated by the Brand’s first electrified SUV, Levante Hybrid, which completes the Levante range and creates a new “family within the family”, now comprising V6 and V8 gasoline and hybrid propulsion systems.”
