Maserati Begins BEV Powertrain Tests

Maserati has joined the lengthening list of premium luxury automakers to explore electrified powertrains for its future products.
It has announced the start of testing for BEV propulsion systems fitted to several experimental vehicles being developed at its new Innovation Lab in Modena. It says that, during this experimental phase, the sound that will characterize the electric engine will also be refined.
Naturally, the automaker is very conscious of the importance of the BEV Maserati sound particularly after so much work has previously gone into honing the brand’s evocative V8 gasoline ICE’s exhaust note. It says testing is continuing on both road and race track to acquire the data that will inform the development of its future BEV range.
The new Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio will be the brand’s first cars to adopt 100% electric solutions and will be built at the Turin production hub.
