With the new EMConnect firmware features, Sierra Wireless embedded modules can serve as stand-alone connections for M2M applications such as advanced meter reading (AMR), advanced meter infrastructure (AMI), remote monitoring & control, and remote updating for applications like digital signs.
This capability eliminates the need for a separate host processor in the device itself and enables OEMs to cut development time and cost.
