Magna Demoing EV, LiDAR, Smart City Tech

Magna International is to showcase new “scalable” electric vehicle powertrains, LiDAR, and smart city tech at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2019.
The component maker says it will demonstrate several powertrain configurations it claims offer “scalable electric power” for both full EVs and hybrids. It will also demonstrate its LiDAR technology for autonomous vehicles, which it says provides “modular, scalable configurations” for all vehicle designs and levels of autonomy.
Magna also plans to showcase its smart city tech at the event. It claims this enables “vehicles to be used and shared differently by making them more adaptable to varying needs and infrastructures”. Other tech the component maker will demonstrate includes “haptic massage seats, personal sound zones, and multi-sensor biometric sensing”.
Magna chief technology officer Swamy Kotagiri said: “At CES 2019, Welcome to Mobility is Magna’s vision of the future where electrification, autonomy, and smart mobility are all intertwined”.
