Lexus Reveals Shape of Coming BEV Supercar

Lexus has published the first official pictures of its upcoming BEV sports car first announced at the end of last year.

The sports model will be part of a full line-up of BEVs that Lexus will launch by 2030 under its Lexus Electrified brand vision. With aggressive styling and low ride height required for a high-performance sports car, the vehicle claims an acceleration time from 0-62mph of in the low two-second range and the cruising distance will exceed 430 miles, thanks to the, as yet, expected use of solid-state batteries.

While the vehicle will excite many in the BEV lobby, Toyota’s president Akio Toyoda has made it very clear at December’s briefing that the automaker will continue with its agnostic view on future powertrains. He said Toyota is putting its faith in a broad mix of powertrain options including battery electric, hydrogen fuel cell, plug-in and self-charging hybrids and ICE.
