Kia Teams With Amazon in Home EV Charging

US customers of Kia EVs and plug-in hybrids can now use Amazon as a one-stop shopping destination to buy and install home charging systems thanks to the carmaker’s latest joint venture.

Kia Motors America has teamed up with the online retail giant in a bid to make its latest PHEVs more attractive and accessible to consumers well used to buying electronics online. The services means potential customers of Kia’s EV and PHEV line-up including, Soul EV, Niro EV, Niro PHEV or Optima PHEV, can visit ChargeMyKia on the Amazon website to choose the appropriate Level 2 or 240-volt charger, information on having it installed and how to operate it at home.

Customers can also compare pricing for electrical services and schedule a licensed electrician to install an EV charger and a 240-volt outlet if needed. The service is backed by Amazon’s Happiness Guarantee for extra peace-of-mind.

Orth Hedrick, executive director of car planning and telematics at Kia Motors America, said: “Home-charging can’t get any easier than this. Being able to order a Level 2 charger and installation through Amazon further demystifies and simplifies the experience for new Kia EV and PHEV owners.”
