Jaguar’s 570bhp V8 Star of New F-Type

Star of the facelift new Jaguar F-Type sportscar has to be its stonking V8 that elevates the car into the supercar arena.
Boasting 570bhp, the 5.0-liter supercharged engine in the F-Type R range-topper also claims 516ft-lbs of torque to whisk the beats to 60mph from a standing start in a claimed 3.5 seconds on the way to an electronically limited 186mph. A somewhat laughable restriction considering the life expectancy potential of a accident at that speed is merely an academic point.
Still, it will also be joined by a lesser sibling in the shape of a 446bhp 5.0-lter supercharged V8 with maximum torque claim 427ft-lbs generated from just 2,500rpm. It is offered with a choice of all-wheel drive and, for purists, rear-wheel drive. Both versions claim 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 177mph.
Jaguar point out that all the models, including the 296bhp supercharged four-cylinder 2.0-liter entry model, boast active exhaust systems, which are switchable either as an option or as standard. By the same token Quickshift paddleshift automatic transmissions will be available across the range. Prices start from £54,060 ($69,900) in the UK and order books for delivery next year are now open.
Inside cabin technology sees a reconfigurable, high-definition, 12.3-inch interactive driver display offering a choice of different display modes; including full map mode. Fittingly for a sportscar, the default mode is dominated by the large central rev counter. Other infotainment features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard and OTA updates of system software plus a Meridian sound system.
