Insurer Attendees Confirmed to Take Part in Canada’s First and Only Event Dedicated to the Potential of Usage Based Insurance Announced

At the Conference, they will hear from the nation’s most influential regulators on UBI product requirements and discover how best to address consumers’ privacy concerns to ensure that insurance telematics takes off in the same way as seen in the US. A sample of attendees can be seen here: http://www.telematicsupdate.com/insurance-telematics-canada/attendees.php

By 2019, it has been forecast that consumers globally will have subscribed to 117.9 million onboard diagnostics (OBD) aftermarket telematics solutions, according to technology market analysts, ABI Research.  The vast proportion of this growth is set to be seen in Europe and North America, meaning that there is huge potential in the Canadian market for telematics service providers (TSPs) and technology players to partner with insurance carriers to develop UBI solutions.

Jack Palmer, Project Director at Telematics Update commented, “We are just 8 weeks  away from the conference and we have already seen a lot of interest from the traditional insurance community – tickets are selling very quickly and we only have a conference room so big so companies should register before tickets sell out.  The timing of the 2-day gathering might be the reason for this interest.  People want to find out how the recent UBI launches by the Cooperators and Intact are going to shake up the insurance market.”

Insurance carriers will be joined at the Conference by telematics service providers such as iMetrik, Octo and IMS, as well as technology consulting IBM, Towers Watson and CGI. With interest in UBI growing quickly there has been no better time to discuss how the auto-insurance ecosystem comes together with telematics service providers to produce the insurance products that consumers want. For the first time, Canadian-specific trends and challenges surrounding consumer uptake, privacy concerns and broker outreach will be addressed and delegates will have the chance to meet other influential parts of the value chain in the form of C-level execs from mobile network operators, data aggregators and of course, regulators.
