INRIX Traffic enhances Live Search 411 service
Microsoft has selected INRIX for the voice-activated local search service, Live Search 411 – a free mobile service that provides real-time traffic information including travel times, accidents and congestion information in addition to local business search, directions, weather and other services.
According to Neil Bernstein, senior director at Microsoft, the company's consumer research reveals that traffic information is one of the most popular requests from mobile phone users.
INRIX and Microsoft subsidiary Tellme Networks are also collaborating on the interactive voice-powered service Ford SYNC with Traffic, Directions & Information. Ford expects this to be available on most 2010 model year Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles.
