Infiniti NAIAS Concept Shows EV Strategy

Nissan’s premium sub-brand Infiniti will debut its all-electric luxury SUV at the 2019 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) next week.

Called the QX Inspiration, the carmaker says it sets out its stall for the future EV products it plans to develop. It is promising a high-performance range of premium products boasting cutting edge technologies where design and aesthetics will be the guiding mission.

The use of electric powertrains will, says Infiniti, enable “the formation of spacious, lounge-like interiors”. With the QX Inspiration concept, the cabin has been hand-crafted using traditional techniques and a choice of materials inspired by Japanese culture. New interior technology is said to follow the Japanese hospitality principle of ‘omotenashi’, by creating a welcoming environment, while assisting drivers and connecting occupants to the world around them.

Karim Habib, executive design director for Infiniti describes the concept as the beginning of a new era for the brand and “an illustration of where the brand wants to go” with “serene strength” at its core.
