Hyundai Offers Retro-Chic with BEV Concept

Hyundai says it has drawn inspiration from its first models launched in the 1970s to create the retro look of the concept BEV debuting at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA).

Using an icon instead of a name, somewhat reminiscent of ‘the artist formerly known as Prince’, the ‘45’ has been announced with a single official detail picture plus an animated clip. The video-let shows how the car’s rear LED ‘color-bar’ can change configuration to provide virtual light clusters or various other functions. At the same time the lower ’70s-styled digital display slowly reveals the model’s icon.

In a statement the carmaker said the design direction is “exploring the evolution of Hyundai’s ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language”.
