High Tech Heritage Launches Planned for Geneva

Two heritage marques will use Geneva to launch their latest products ranging from the high-tech to the traditional.

Firstly Automobili Pininfarina will present a strictly limited special edition of its luxury BEV the Battista Anniversario. Limited to just five models, the celebrates the 90th anniversary of Pininfarina the coach builder and creator of some of the world’s most iconic car designs and pays tribute to its founder, Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina.

The cars to be hand-built in Cambiano, Italy, are making the claim to become the fastest and most powerful cars ever built in the country.

The automaker says the Anniversario is the ultimate expression of the Battista hypercar, with enhanced dynamic abilities based on an aerodynamic package and a heritage-inspired livery. Its debut comes as the dynamic testing phase of Battista accelerates with early powertrain prototypes claiming to output nearly 1,900bhp and a pure-electric hyper GT are already achieving 80% of its potential performance.

Testing will feature the expertise of Formula One racer Nick Heidfeld, now development driver with Automobili Pininfarina.

At the same time a very much more limited amount of information is coming out of the iconic British sportscar brand, Morgan. In a terse statement it revealed: “With just a week until the Geneva International Motor Show 2020, Morgan Motor Company confirm that they will be launching an all-new model at the show. Based on their CX-Generation aluminium platform, the latest model features a four cylinder engine and the option of a manual transmission.”
