GMC Hummer To Prove EV is Butch?

The epitome of ‘butch’ motors, the GMC Hummer, is making a return but this time as a full BEV.

Although not set to be revealed until May 20, the Detroit built Hummer EV is to make a fleeting appearance in an advert at that other icon of masculinity, this Sunday’s Super Bowl. A detail of the car’s body and a few technical details is all the automaker is, so far, willing to share.

What GMC will say is that the beast boasts 1,000bhp, 11,500ft-lbs of torque and a claimed sprint time to 60mph from standstill in just 3 seconds.

Duncan Aldred, vice-president of Global Buick and GMC, said: “GMC builds premium and capable trucks and SUVs and the GMC HUMMER EV takes this to new heights. We are excited to debut our revolutionary zero-emissions truck during the biggest night in TV advertising.” The 30-second TV spot is scheduled to air during the second quarter of the big game.
