GM Enters US Auto Insurance Ring with OnStar

General Motors is expanding its OnStar connectivity service to include auto insurance for its customers.

GM’s new insurance agency, OnStar Insurance Services, will be the exclusive agent for OnStar Insurance. It hopes to harness the lessons learned from the system’s consumer engagement to offer a secure, fair, personalized and easy-to-use digital insurance experience for drivers.

The service hopes to respond, if an accident occurs, offering OnStar Insurance policyholders, who have an OnStar Safety & Security plan, Automatic Crash Response which will notify an emergency-certified advisor who can send for help. UBI will tailor premiums depending on individual vehicle usage, rewarding smart driving habits that benefit road safety.

Andrew Rose, president of OnStar Insurance Services, said: “OnStar Insurance will promote safety, security and peace of mind. GM customers who have subscribed to OnStar and connected services will be eligible to receive discounts, while also receiving fully-integrated services from OnStar Insurance Services.”

Starting with Arizona residents, OnStar Insurance Services will initially offer OnStar Insurance to GM employees in Q4 2020, expanding to additional customers, including the general public, in early 2021.
