Garmin strengthens relationship with Ford

The system – Ford's first genuine portable navigation system – will be available on the Focus, C-Max, Kuga, new Fiesta, Transit and Transit Connect in Europe.
According to Roger Jollis, Garmin's director of OEM & mobile marketing, Ford has designed a convenient plug & play solution that does not obstruct the driver's field of vision. This enables Ford owners to mount a standard nüvi directly to the interior trim, near the driver's wing mirror rather than to the windshield via a traditional suction cup mount.
Powered by the vehicle, the special mount eliminates the need for exposed power cables. A traffic receiver can be added to the mount.
To date, Garmin has entered into partnerships with Ford, Volvo, BMW, Mini, Mercedes Benz, Suzuki, Honda and Land Rover in Europe, and Ford, Mazda, Nissan, Honda, BMW and Mini in North America.
