Ford Extends UBI Consumer Options to Europe

Ford of Europe has agreed a UBI telematics service deal with data analytics provider Verisk.
The automaker will receive standardized, insurance-ready telematics data from its connected vehicles in some European countries to allow motor insurers access UBI data in a bid to offer safe drivers discounted cover. This service will be available in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
With the vehicle owners’ consent, insurers will be able to access standardized metrics that Verisk generates from connected vehicles. The data will be available through the company’s Data Insight Hub, an evolving source of insurance datasets and analytics accessible at any part of the customer journey, including the point of quote.
The agreement between Ford and Verisk follows a similar agreement between the two companies in the US announced last year. In October 2020, Ford joined the Verisk Data Exchange, an IoT and telematics platform.
Mark Harvey, director of business operations, Enterprise Connectivity at Ford of Europe, said: “We are delighted to extend our agreement with Verisk into Europe,” “Through their innovative analytics solutions, we are able to make sure that our customers receive the most accurate and budget-friendly insurance plan options, rewarding safe driving behavior.”
