US battery electric carmaker Fisker is on the way to following in the tire tracks of Tesla with sights set on breaking into the expanding European BEV market.
It makes its debut on the continent at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, starting on February 28, with its first product, the Fisker Ocean SUV. This comes in two versions with the five-passenger Fisker Ocean Sport claiming a range of 250 miles with a starting price of £34,990 ($46,930). The top trim Fisker Ocean Extreme boasts a 350-mile range using a dual-motor AWD and three driving modes.
In 2021, the Manhattan Beach, Californian start-up established an office in Munich and is rapidly adding staff to serve a fast-growing electric vehicle market. It is constructing its first European brand experience center in Munich, with plans for additional centers in other European countries. The company’s industry-leading warranty will be supported by service centers throughout the region. For servicing, it is also offering at-home vehicle pick-up, or Fisker Mobile Service, for customers who prefer that skilled technicians come to them.
Also last year it created its special edition outfit, Fisker Magic Works, and chose England as the division’s headquarters. This branch of the company will develop special versions of the company’s vehicles alongside new, high-performance projects combining sustainability.
CEO Henrik Fisker, said: “I couldn’t be more excited to unveil the Fisker Ocean in Spain and present its unique combination of performance, value and technology to the European media and prospective owners. Europe is essential to our company as we work towards the start of production in November at a carbon-neutral factory in Austria. We aim to make the world’s most sustainable vehicle and to start deliveries in Europe this year. Ultimately, we expect to sell 60,000 units annually in the region.”
