Fiat Ducato Van Will Go Electric Next Year

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has announced an electric version of the Ducato van will be available in 2020, launching a pilot scheme with “major clients”.
This follows announcements from PSA about its own BEV vans, the Citroen Relay and Peugeot Boxer, recently. All three vans share an EV platform but while these will be converted over by another firm, Fiat says the Ducato will have electric technology “designed and developed by FCA”.
Fiat has not revealed any technical specifics regarding the van, except from saying there will be “no trade off” compared to the regular, ICE-powered variant, “in terms of load and performance”. The pilot scheme will launch next year, so Fiat can ascertain the requirements of its professional customers.
