FCC plans to halve minimum opening bid for wireless spectrum

The 700 MHz airwaves are being returned by television broadcasters as they move to digital from analogue signals early next year.

The FCC plans toauction the 700 MHz D Block spectrumwith a requirement for the buyer(s) to partner with public safety agencies during emergencies, creating a national interoperable network for first responders.
